FAQ
1 - How will you sell a novel that has already been published?
Good question. Fortunately the main goal is finishing the story. I'm not stupid, of course I'd like to make some money with it, but you can't sella novel that you never finish. So firstt things first. First finish the novel, then I'll see about publishing it. Plus did I tell you this is the first part of a trilogy?
2 - Who are you?
I'm Martin. I'm 31 or 32 years old, depending on whether you read this before of after June 2011. Born and raised in the Netherlands. My last name? Oh, you don't wanna know. Really? Well, ok, but don't say I didn't warn you! It's Gijzemijter (told you). Somehow I don't really think that will work well on a book cover, so I'm not sure what I will do with that.
3 - Why are you doing this in English?
Good question. I was born and raised in the Netherlands, and English is not my mother tongue. Even though I am also a translator in daily life, I am bound to make some mistakes. Why take that risk and why not do it in Dutch? The Netherlands is a small country, and I want this project, and this story to reach as many people as possible. This means that English was the way to go. Once the project is well underway, I'll try to implement a module to allow people to edit existing copy (probably Wiki style). Note the try...because I don't know where this project is going. Everything is an experiment.
4 - When will your novel be completed?
That one is easy. I'm going to borrow a quote from a game publisher and say: "It's done when it's done". I'm hoping this year. But I've never finished one before, I don't know how many pages it will have, where the story will take me in the end and if, at the last page, I've turned out to have made a mistake in the beginning. Maybe ask me again tomorrow?
